At Lei Jun Annual Speech 2024 event, Xiaomi stepped into the flip phone market with the launch of Xiaomi MIX Flip. The Xiaomi MIX Flip is full of innovation and packs the latest features to flip the smartphone category upside down. A closer look at the design and display
The Xiaomi MIX Flip comes with a 6.86” TCL C8+ 1.5K 120Hz LTPO AMOLED foldable display. It has a peak brightness of as high as 3000 nits. Plus, with this new device, users can enjoy a 4-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED outer display. Beyond that, it comes with a quad-curved design and offers an absolutely different user experience. Furthermore, the outer display has gained the ability to act like a compact phone, providing the seamlessly stylish feature.
Performance and cooling system
The Xiaomi MIX Flip uses the potent Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, beaming users with seamless and power-efficient performance. Moreover, the 3D cooling system on this device has increased the VC area to 3500mm². Also, the phone brings a unique “staircase” design for efficiently dissipating heat from the SoC. This device also applies a new thermal insulation material, Xiaomi’s SU7 “aerogel,”. The resulting coating can effectively block the transfer of heat to the display and greatly enhance the user experience.
Camera and imaging capabilities
The Xiaomi MIX Flip offers Leica Summilux lenses on the main 50MP Light Fusion 800 sensor to yield brilliant image quality. There’s also an additional 50MP 47mm 3x Leica floating telephoto with a minimum focusing distance of just 9cm. The Xiaomi AISP large model computing platform can thus sustain many higher-order imaging scenes, with processing power going as high as 60 TOPS.
Battery life
What keeps the Xiaomi MIX Flip on its feet is a huge 4780mAh battery, outclassing most flagships available in the market. With Xiaomi’s Surge battery technology and 6% silicon content in the negative electrode, this device is going to retain at least 80% capacity after 1600 cycles. To refill the battery, it offers a 67W fast charging support.

The Xiaomi MIX Fold is available for pre-order and will be on sale from July 23rd, starting at 5999 yuan and 6499 yuan or USD 894/Rs. 74,845 approximately for the 12GB+512GB variant, while the top-end variant that comes with 16GB+1TB will be priced at 7299 yuan or approximately USD 1,004/Rs. 84,060.
