August 2024 is going to be a busy month for new smartphone launches. While July was filled with high-end variants, like the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6/Flip6, REDMAGIC 9S Pro Series, OPPO Reno12 Series, CMF Phone 1 and more.
This month will bring you several new flagship smartphones. The list includes the popular models of Google Pixel 9 series, vivo V40 series, and iQOO Z9s series, and more. Here is an overview of each of the upcoming launches, such as their launch dates, probable prices, and key specifications.

1. Motorola Edge 50
Launched: August 1, 2024
The Motorola Edge 50 arrives with a 6.67-inch pOLED display and 1.5K resolution, offering a 120Hz refresh rate, 1900 nits brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It runs on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset and comes with 8 GB of RAM. There’s even a vapor chamber cooling system on offer.
At the back, there is a 50MP main sensor, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 13MP ultra-wide sensor. It comes with a 32MP front camera for selfies. It packs a 5000mAh battery that supports 68W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging. The device boots Android 14 with Hello UI out of the box. The Edge 50 costs Rs. 27,999 for the 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant.
2. POCO M6 Plus 5G
Launched: August 1, 2024
The POCO M6 Plus 5G comes fitted with a 6.79-inch FHD+ display and a 120Hz refresh rate. It ships with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AE (Accelerated Edition) chipset and up to 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. The device runs Android 14-based HyperOS and features a 108MP main camera along with a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, it has a 13MP front camera.
The POCO M6 Plus packs a 5030mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging. It is available in two different configurations: 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage for Rs. 13,499 and another 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage for Rs. 14,499.
3. HONOR Magic6 Pro
Launched: August 2, 2024
The HONOR Magic 6 Pro is available in India with a single variant of 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage, priced at Rs. 89,999. It features an OLED LTPO display measuring 6.8-inch with a refresh rate of 120Hz and Dolby Vision support.
It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Moving to the camera department, it has a 108MP periscope telephoto camera, a 50MP main camera, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera on the back of the smartphone. Likewise, it also features a 50MP front camera with a 3D depth sensor. Furthermore, it features a 5600mAh battery supporting 80W wired fast charging. Fuelled by MagicOS 8.0, which is based on Android 14.
4. OPPO A3x
Launched: August 2, 2024
The OPPO A3x costs Rs 12,499 for the 64 GB model and Rs 13,499 for the 128 GB model. It comes with a 6.67-inch HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1000 nits brightness. A Dimensity 6300 chip powers it with 4 GB RAM under the hood.
It has a 5100mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging. On the camera front, it sports a 32MP shooter at the back and a 5MP selfie camera. Available in Sparkle Black, Starry Purple, and Starlight White. On sale starting August 7.
5. Infinix Note 40X 5G
Launch Date: August 5, 2024
Infinix has already confirmed that the Note 40X 5G will launch at less than Rs. 15,000 price segment. However, the Note 40X 5G will offer a 6.78-inch FHD+ LTPS display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. This phone will use the Dimensity 6300 chipset with up to 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage capacity.
It will equip a 108MP primary camera, an 8MP sensor, and a 2MP lens on the rear, and an 8MP camera on the front. Furthermore, it runs on the XOS 14, which is based on Android 14, with a 5000mAh battery.
6. OnePlus Open Apex Edition
Launch Date: August 7, 2024
The OnePlus Open Apex Edition, on the lines of the Hasselblad 503CW 60 Years Victor Red Edition, gets the following specifications, likely to be the same as those in the standard OnePlus Open. It may utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.
The foldable device includes a 7.82-inch Flexi Fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED display when unfolded and a 6.31-inch cover display. It touts a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP main sensor, 48MP ultra-wide lens, and 64MP telephoto lens. And, in the front, it has a dual-camera setup with a 32MP and 20MP lens.
7. vivo V40 Series
Launch Date: August 7, 2024
The vivo V40 series will run with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset on the vivo V40 and a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC on the Vivo V40 Pro. Both models have a 6.78-inch 3D curved AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Now, the vivo V40 will come with a 50MP triple camera setup, while the Pro version is going to have the same primary sensor with some other specifications in common. The V40 series runs on Android 14 and may cost upwards of Rs 30,000 for the V40 and above Rs 40,000 for the Pro variant.
8. Google Pixel 9 Series
Launch Date: August 13, 2024
The Pixel 9 Series is set to launch on August 13 (August 14th in India) at “Made by Google” event. In it, we could see a 6.3-inch Actua display, the latest Tensor G4 chipset with up to 12 GB of RAM, and a dual rear camera setup, one 50MP wide lens plus one 48MP ultra-wide lens. Upfront, the camera specs mention a 10.5 MP lens.
Furthermore, the Pixel 9 Pro XL will pack almost the same screen size, while in the back, it will mount a triple camera setup, harbor 50MP main, 48MP ultra-wide, and 48MP telephoto lenses. The capacity of the battery is going to be more with the Pixel 9 Pro XL, while the storage space will get up to 512 GB. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold features an 8-inch Super Actua Flex inner foldable display.
9. iQOO Z9s Series 5G
Launch Date: August 21, 2024
The iQOO Z9s Series include two models: iQOO Z9s and the Z9s Pro. This series is confirmed to launch under Rs 30,000 price segment. Both the phones feature advanced AI features. The iQOO Z9s Pro is confirmed to run on Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 4 nm chipset. It will have a 3D curved AMOLED display. Moreover, the display features a 120Hz screen refresh rate and 4500 nits peak brightness. The Z9s Pro is offered in two color variants: Flamboyant Orange, Luxe Marble (White).
In contrast, the details for the Z9s are not disclosed yet. However, we expect a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset. It could carry a similar display size and resolution, but it will likely have flat edges. As of now, only one color variant “Green” has been revealed. 10. HMD Barbie Flip
Launch Date: By End of August (Summer)
HMD Global is going to launch the Barbie Flip Phone in Summer 2024. Although, exact launch date has not been unveiled, but we anticipate it to come out by the end of August. Now, the flip phone appears to be inspired by Mattel’s iconic Barbie. The feature phone will be available in a classic pink color scheme and run on S30+ or KaiOS. It is tipped to have a detox theme, targeting users looking for a nostalgic simple phone experience.
