BTS’ V’s ‘Layover’ receives platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan

V (Kim Taehyung) of BTS has achieved a significant milestone as his first solo album ‘Layover‘ has been awarded the Gold Disc Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). This recognition underscores the album’s impressive sales, with cumulative shipments surpassing 250,000 copies as of September.

The announcement, made on October 10th, highlights ‘Layover’ as V’s first project to receive the prestigious Gold Disc Platinum certification. The RIAJ categorizes its certifications as follows: Gold for over 100,000 copies, Platinum for over 250,000 copies, Double Platinum for over 500,000 copies, Triple Platinum for over 750,000 copies, and A Million for over 1 million copies sold.

Released in September of last year, ‘Layover‘ not only garnered critical acclaim but also demonstrated remarkable commercial success. The album quickly rose to prominence, securing the top spot on Oricon’s Daily Album Ranking as of September 30.
