As anticipation grows over Google’s upcoming Pixel 9a, the leaked details give a pretty clear picture of what is expected from the much-awaited mid-range device. Now, based on information from Android Headlines and a wireless carrier, we now have a comprehensive overview of what the mid-range device will have in store for Google’s latest budget-friendly smartphone.
Tensor G4 processor and Titan M2 security chip
According to the report, the Pixel 9a will house a Google Tensor G4 processor at its core, promising performance with greater efficiency. The Titan M2 security chip is also paired, providing the promise of strong security in everyday use. All this reflects Google’s commitment to blending AI capabilities with cutting-edge hardware.
Furthermore, the Pixel 9a is offered with 8 GB LPDDR5X RAM to improve multitasking. There are choices of either 128 or 256 GB storage devices, UFS 3.1 being the technology deployed for swift access and booting up applications.
Bright and durable Actua display
The Pixel 9a will boast a 6.285-inch Actua Display with the highest brightness rates ever seen. It will offer a 2,700 nits maximum brightness and 1,800 nits HDR brightness, making it one of the brightest screens available for very good sunlight visibility. Moreover, the Gorilla Glass 3 version, which is a bit older, will protect the Google Pixel 9a.
Familiar yet reliable camera setup
Google isn’t taking too much of a step away from its tried-and-tested camera configuration. The Pixel 9a will come with the 48MP GN8 Quad Dual Pixel primary sensor, f/1.7. In addition, it has a 13MP Sony IMX712 ultrawide sensor (f/2.2). Similarly, the device will equip a 13MP front camera.
Notable bigger battery and faster charging
The Pixel 9a sees a very notable battery capacity upgrade. At 5,100mAh, this one provides roughly 13 percent more capacity compared to the predecessor while remaining exactly as compact. The charging speed improved a bit: to 23W on a cable, but the wireless charge is still only at 7.5W without Qi2.

Compact and lightweight design
The Pixel 9a will be slightly larger than the Pixel 8a but lighter in general. It measures 154.7 × 73.3 × 8.9 mm and weighs 185.9g, so it is a little taller and wider but loses a few grams. Unfortunately, this means that Pixel 8a cases won’t fit the new model, but the differences are likely to go unnoticed in daily use.
Durability and water resistance
The Pixel 9a will be available in four colors: Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony to match the Pixel 9. Moreover, the pricing for the Pixel 9a is consistent at $499 for the base variant with 128 GB of storage; Verizon customers will have a higher-tier option, with the same model but an add-on of $50 exclusively for mmWave.
Colors and pricing
The Pixel 9a will be available in four colors variants: Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony, exactly the same as the Pixel 9, and pricing is the same too, with the base 128 GB model starting at $499. However, Verizon has a variant that’s just mmWave for $50 more.
Till then stay tuned for the official word as we approach the launch of Pixel 9a!
