Following an imminent launch teaser, HUAWEI has just launched the Mate XT, a foldable smartphone with a tri-fold screen design, marking a moment of note in the technology. Being the very first in-mass production smartphone to come with the feature, the Mate XT expands its display to combine flexibility and innovative design-house products, meeting the dual demand for productivity and entertainment in one device.
HUAWEI Mate XT: A revolutionary tri-fold display
HUAWEI Mate XT features a 6.4-inch FHD+ screen when folded and houses within itself a more compact, traditional smartphone experience. When unfolded halfway, the screen goes to 7.9-inch with a resolution of 2K. It makes this great for productive use cases such as multitasking and media consumption.
When unfolded, the screen size grows to 10.2-inch with a 3K resolution, acting itself as a full-fledged tablet. It’s a new level of adaptability that came into the foldable market, with a lot of form factors within one device. At only 3.6 mm thick when fully opened, it’s both portable and practical.
The screen itself is an LTPO OLED with 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. HUAWEI has used multi-directional flexible materials for this display to improve durability. Its fold resistance has been enhanced by 25% over previous foldable models, providing added protection from everyday wear and tear.
Powerful performance and long battery life
The chipset of the Mate XT has not been mentioned yet. However, it is likely to feature HUAWEI’s in-house Kirin 9000 series processor for the highest-class performance and power efficiency.
Moreover, it comes with a big 5600mAh silicon-carbon battery, the thinnest in the world at just 1.9 mm thick. It supports 66W fast wired charging, wireless charging at 50W, to have a full load for the entire day.
Robust durability
HUAWEI strengthened the durability of the phone by using composite ultra-tough laminated structure. The materials include non-Newtonian fluid for better shock absorption, and the Ultra-Thin Glass comes with double the impact resistance compared to other foldables. This target of an excellent increase in strength for users’ use also ensures longevity with dependability.
Next-level photography
The camera system of the Mate XT includes a 50MP main camera with an aperture that changes from f/1.4 to f/4.0 for good performance in varied lighting conditions. Other features include a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP 5.5x periscope telephoto lens. Add-ons like these hint at a Mate XT that can be quite versatile in many shooting scenarios; real-world testing would show just how well it actually does. It also features a fingerprint sensor mounted on the side, which enables quick and secure unlocking.
