Motorola’s upcoming Edge 60 series, which comprises the Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro models, has made its way in freshly leaked press renders. The renders, provided by German publication WinFuture, provide insight into the phones’ design and camera features, which suggest what consumers can anticipate from the future of Motorola smartphones.
Design and display
As per the renders, the Motorola Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro will both have a minimalist design with thin bezels. The Pro variant stands out with a curved screen, while both phones will likely feature a vegan leather finish and offer a premium feel. However, in an effort to cut costs, the phones will forgo the metal frame used in previous models.
Camera specifications
The camera setup seems to be one of the major features of the Edge 60 lineup. The Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro are both expected to sport a 50MP Sony LYTIA sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 24 mm lens. The images also show a 12 mm lens, which suggests the inclusion of an ultra-wide camera.
The Edge 60 Pro would provide additional camera features, such as a 3x telephoto with a focal length of 73 mm, in addition to the ultra-wide camera. An alleged additional button on the Pro version’s left-hand side could optionally initiate video recording, adding extra functionality to the device.
Expected launch and previous models
The Motorola Edge 50 series that debuted in April last year had varying camera sensors for its variants. The Edge 50 used a 50MP Sony LYT-700C sensor, while the Edge 50 Pro used a 50MP OmniVision OV50E sensor. The Sony Lytia 900 sensor will likely power the Edge 60 series, though confirmation is still pending.
Given the past launch schedule, the Motorola Edge 60 series will likely launch sometime in April this year. However, no word has come from Motorola about a release date or specs.
