Samsung is preparing for the release of its latest-generation foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold7, that should hit the market sometime in mid-July. While we await the official release, leaks and CAD renders shared by reliable source @OnLeaks (via Android Headlines) gave a first glimpse into the device with a 360-degree video and 5K renders, showcasing major design updates and internal enhancements.
Thinner and wider design
The Galaxy Z Fold7 will have a thinner profile, at 4.5 mm unfolded and 9.5 mm folded (9 mm without the camera hump). It will be 1.1 mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold6 and 0.4 mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold SE. Yet, it is still not the thinnest book-style foldable, as the OPPO Find N5 measures 4.2 mm and the HONOR Magic V3 comes in at 4.4 mm.
Furthermore, the phone’s size—158.4 × 143.1 × 4.5 mm—implies a broader front screen, a design feature that Samsung has incrementally refined over the years to improve usability. Further, the external display is anticipated to be 6.5-inch, with the internal foldable screen increasing to 8.2-inch, the largest screen on a book-style foldable, overtaking the OPPO Find N5’s 8.12-inch screen.
Performance and battery life
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, the same processor used in the Galaxy S25 lineup. Though some rumors had proposed Samsung might be utilizing an Exynos 2500 version in specific regions, this doesn’t look likely based on Samsung’s close working partnership with Qualcomm for maximum performance optimization.
Anyway, the battery capacity is the same at 4,400mAh as in earlier Galaxy Z Fold smartphones. But enhanced efficiency from the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor should result in improved battery life. Contrary to its predecessor, the Z Fold7 is tipped to have support for fast charging at 45W, up from the 25W fast charging supported by the Galaxy Z Fold6.
Camera upgrades and new S Pen
One of the most notable upgrades is in the camera section. The Galaxy Z Fold7 should have a 200MP primary sensor, which is the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Moreover, the rest of the camera configuration consists of a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 10MP telephoto sensor, a 10MP outer display selfie camera, and a 4MP under-display camera on the inner screen.
Another significant addition is a new S Pen that has a thicker tip and is aimed at enhancing writing and drawing accuracy on the foldable screen.
Other features
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is likely to bring a more evolved hinge mechanism, enhanced cooling technology, and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. It will probably still have the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the outer display and use Samsung’s own armored aluminum alloy frame rather than the titanium on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Expected launch timeline
Samsung usually brings its foldable models earlier every year. However, since the Galaxy S25 lineup was a little later than the usual launch time, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 may follow a similar trend, which means that the most likely window for its release is mid-July.
