Apple announced today that Apple Maps is now available to the web, launching as a public beta starting today. This new feature lets users access Apple Maps straight from their browsers, not just Safari. It provides an easy way to get directions without having to open up the Maps app.
Seamless navigation experience
Apple Maps on the web is similar to the one found in its mobile app. The web version offers functionality that enables the user to get driving and walking directions, get places of interest, view ratings, and hours of operation. It also has other features for ordering food directly in the Maps place card and discovering new places to eat, shop, and explore in various cities around the world. Apple also announced additional options, including a Look Around feature, will be added in the coming months.
A new alternative to Google Maps
This is the web version of Apple Maps, competing directly with Google Maps, the top web-based mapping service. But users can view the Maps on the web at Maps.Apple.com. Starting today, links to Apple Maps on the web can be shared from an app by developers, allowing users to tap and get driving directions or location information without having to leave an app.

Compatibility and future expansions
Apple Maps on the web currently supports English only and is compatible with Safari and Chrome on Mac and iPad, and Chrome and Edge on Windows PCs. Apple aims to broaden this support in the near future by including it in other languages, on other browsers, and across other platforms, which will increase its reach and be more complete for users.
