BTS’ Jimin’s “Who” becomes fastest K-pop solo song to earn RIAA Triple Platinum

Jimin of BTS continues to make history in the global music industry as his hit song “Who” reaches a remarkable milestone, earning Triple Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in record time.

Jimin’s “Who” achieves triple platinum status in just 229 days

On March 6, Jimin’s song “Who” officially received RIAA Triple Platinum certification for surpassing 3 million units sold in the United States. This achievement makes it the fastest K-pop solo track to reach this milestone, accomplishing the feat in just 229 days.

Breaking records in the US music industry

With this accomplishment, “Who” joins an elite list of K-pop songs that have sold over 3 million units in the US. The only other tracks to achieve this level of success are PSY’s “Gangnam Style” and BTS’s mega-hits “Butter” and “Dynamite.” Notably, Jimin becomes the first and only Asian artist to earn RIAA Triple Platinum certification both as a soloist and as a member of a group.

    Jimin’s previous RIAA achievements

This isn’t Jimin’s first groundbreaking moment with the RIAA. His first solo album, ‘FACE,’ included the title track “Like Crazy,” which previously achieved RIAA Double Platinum status for selling over 2 million units in the U.S. With both “Like Crazy” and “Who” surpassing the 2 million sales mark, Jimin remains the only K-pop solo artist with multiple songs at this level.

Beyond his solo success, Jimin has also received RIAA gold certifications for multiple tracks, including:

    • Set Me Free Pt. 2
    • Angel Pt. 1 (from Fast & Furious 10)
    • Filter
    • Serendipity (Full Length Edition)
    • Lie

Additionally, his solo albums ‘FACE‘ and ‘MUSE‘ have both been certified gold by the RIAA. This makes him the first K-pop soloist with two gold-certified albums in the US.
