During the Snapdragon Summit 2024, ASUS confirmed that the company’s much-awaited series for the ROG Phone 9 — a successor to last year’s ROG Phone 8 — will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Additionally, with this confirmation, ASUS also announced that the official launch event will take place on November 19th, 2024. Hence, it will provide more insight into what might be coming from the company’s gaming smartphone lineup.
AI enhancements in gaming
Under the tagline ‘AI on, game on’, ASUS has hinted that the ROG Phone 9 will be an AI-intensive device. Speaking of which, though, there is no information related to how the ROG Phone 9 would decide to use AI. Nevertheless, it would be legitimate to say that the implementation of AI would lead to the optimization of graphics, performance, or gameplay capabilities.
Teased features: AI photography, AniMe, and retro gaming triggers
The company has also teased other features, including AI photography, that can improve the quality of photos taken through scene detection and processing via AI. There could be a new AniMe model with Mini-LEDs on the back, where users would be able to customize the look of their new phone. The presence of gaming triggers may bring in some retro look to gaming, giving a better feel all around as control and interaction gets honed in.

Based on reports, the ROG Phone 9 will come with up to 24 GB RAM and 1 TB internal storage. Meanwhile, this will continue ASUS’s gaming phones’ traits and tendencies in having high-performance hardware. For its battery, this one is likely to deliver 65W fast-charging capabilities, like its predecessor. It should also retain IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
