    Samsung unveils Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Flip7 FE at Galaxy Unpacked 2025

Samsung pulled the curtain back on its latest foldable phones at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in New York, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and the more affordable Z Flip7 FE. This year’s lineup pushes boundaries in portability, performance, and AI-powered user experiences, showing how far foldables have come since their debut.

Galaxy Z Fold7: Big on power, slim in size

The Galaxy Z Fold7 builds on its predecessor with noticeable upgrades. The inner display is now an 8-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel that adapts from 1Hz to 120Hz, making everything from scrolling to streaming smooth and responsive. It’s 11% larger than the Fold6’s display, giving users more room to multitask or enjoy content.

The outer display is no slouch either, a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a taller 21:9 aspect ratio and the same adaptive refresh rate makes the folded experience more usable than ever.

Samsung has also switched to the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, offering better performance and efficiency. But perhaps the most eye-catching upgrade is the addition of a 200MP main camera, a first for the Z Fold series. This is paired with a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical and 30x space zoom. The under-display camera is gone, replaced by a much sharper 10MP shooter.

Despite all the power inside, the Fold7 remains sleek and surprisingly light at 215 grams, even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. When folded, it’s 8.9 mm thick, and when open, it slims down to just 4.2 mm. Samsung’s redesigned Armor FlexHinge, combined with a Titanium-layered display and tougher Ultra-Thin Glass, ensures it can withstand everyday use while feeling premium in hand.

Battery life is handled by a 4400mAh unit, with 25W wired, 15W wireless, and reverse wireless charging options. The phone is rated IP48 for dust and water resistance, offering extra peace of mind.

Smartphones meet smarter AI with One UI 8

All three foldables ship with One UI 8, based on Android 16, fine-tuned for large screens and powered by Galaxy AI. Samsung’s latest software brings AI to the forefront, not just as a feature but as a core part of the user experience.

AI tools like Photo Assist allow users to move or erase objects, adjust angles, or enhance portraits with ease. Features like Suggest Erases and Enhanced Generative Edit provide smart, proactive editing help. Meanwhile, Audio Eraser now automatically detects and removes background noise in videos.

Samsung also introduced Gemini Live, a multimodal assistant that can understand voice, text, and visual input. Whether you’re editing photos, planning a trip, or researching something you’re viewing, it all happens within context, without switching apps.

Security hasn’t taken a backseat either. Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) creates app-specific encrypted environments, and Samsung is introducing post-quantum cryptography in Secure Wi-Fi to future-proof encrypted communications.
