Apple today introduced the iPhone 17 lineup, featuring major advancements in camera technology, display durability, performance, and connectivity. Alongside the newest iPhones, the company also announced new watches and AirPods. Anyway, the new iPhone lineup includes the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models, each designed to deliver new levels of imaging, gaming, and AI-powered experiences with iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence.
iPhone 17: new center stage camera and Fusion camera system
The standard iPhone 17 debuts Apple’s all-new Center Stage front camera, the first square front sensor on iPhone. It captures up to 18MP photos, supports portrait and landscape selfies without rotating the device, and automatically adjusts the field of view for group shots. Users can also record stabilized 4K HDR video with Dual Capture, filming with front and rear cameras simultaneously.
On the back, iPhone 17 introduces an all-48MP triple camera system, including a Fusion Main camera with 2x optical-quality zoom and an upgraded Fusion Ultra Wide for expansive scenes and macro photography. Video capture supports 4K60 Dolby Vision, Cinematic mode, and Spatial Audio.
The device sports a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On functionality, and up to 3000 nits peak brightness. Protection is strengthened with Ceramic Shield 2, delivering 3x better scratch resistance and reduced glare.
Powered by the A19 chip, built on 3nm architecture, iPhone 17 offers faster performance, efficiency, and on-device AI capabilities. The new N1 wireless chip enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread for improved connectivity.

The pricing for the iPhone 17 begins at $799 (U.S.), with 256GB storage as the new base. Pre-orders open September 12, with availability starting September 19.
iPhone Air: the thinnest iPhone ever
Apple also announced the iPhone Air, its thinnest model to date at just 5.6mm. Built with a titanium frame and Ceramic Shield protection on both front and back, iPhone Air combines durability with a lightweight design.
It features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, Always-On mode, and 3000 nits brightness. The 48MP Fusion camera system offers versatile focal lengths, alongside an 18MP Center Stage front camera with AI-powered group framing.
Inside, the A19 Pro, N1, and C1X chips deliver pro-level performance, efficiency, and next-generation wireless and cellular capabilities. The redesigned internal architecture maximizes battery life, while the eSIM-only design allows for a thinner form factor.
Starting at $999 (U.S.), iPhone Air will be available in space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue finishes.
iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: pro performance and pro cameras
At the high end, Apple introduced iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, powered by the A19 Pro chip with a new Apple-designed vapor chamber for improved thermal performance. Built with aerospace-grade aluminum, both models support sustained high-performance gaming, video editing, and AI workloads.
The Pro lineup debuts Apple’s most advanced camera system yet, offering the equivalent of eight professional lenses. Three 48MP Fusion cameras include a redesigned Telephoto with up to 8x optical zoom at 200mm, the longest on iPhone. Video features expand with ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock for multi-camera productions.
Displays are available in 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, featuring Ceramic Shield 2 on both front and back for improved durability. ProMotion, Always-On, and 3000 nits outdoor brightness are included.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max introduces the largest-ever storage option, with configurations up to 2TB. Pricing begins at $1,099 (U.S.) for iPhone 17 Pro and $1,199 (U.S.) for iPhone 17 Pro Max.
