Youngjae of GOT7 has returned with his new digital single, ‘Fermata.’ It features two songs, including the standout track “Escape To Me,” an alternative hip-hop song with emotional lyrics and unique sounds. A cinematic music video was also released, exploring themes of emotional struggle and self-healing.

This new single, ‘Fermata,’ is Youngjae’s first solo project in about a year. Its title, a musical term for a pause, shows the main idea of taking a break from life’s stresses. The main song, “Escape To Me,” uses piano, breakbeat rhythms, and electric guitar to create an expressive sound.
The song’s lyrics share a comforting message, telling young people dealing with inner struggles or social pressure that “it’s okay to run away.” The track had previously been performed to fans during GOT7’s concert in Thailand.

This duality emerges in scenes where Youngjae, wearing glasses, faces his more vulnerable self. This suggests an internal talk between fear and self-acceptance.
In one powerful scene, the two versions of Youngjae physically interact, with one grabbing the other, leading to a symbolic collapse. Both versions appear repeatedly, sometimes staring at each other, sometimes taking different paths. This really makes you wonder about their psychological and emotional meaning.
