Tesla has finally unveiled its first-ever Supercharger station in India, marking the company’s entry into India’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. The One BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex), a high-end location in Mumbai, is the location of the station that offers fast-charging as well as destination-charging facilities.
First Supercharger station in India goes live
The new facility accommodates four V4 Supercharger stalls, which can provide up to 250 kW of DC fast charging. According to reports, these chargers can provide about 267 kilometers of range in 15 minutes for a vehicle like Tesla Model Y, depending on the conditions of the battery and temperature.
Tesla has set the price of the DC Supercharging facility at ₹24 per kWh, and the four destination AC chargers at the property charge at 11 kW for ₹11 per kWh. In addition, the chargers are provided through the Tesla app on the smartphone, which allows drivers to see availability, start charging, and pay.
Integration with Tesla’s global ecosystem
Just like Tesla’s global network of chargers, the Mumbai station is Tesla-compatible. The Tesla app enables users to precondition the battery, saving them time by preheating the battery while on their way to the station. Tesla also has a company record 99.95% uptime for its worldwide Supercharger network, a figure that it hopes to achieve in India too.
Expansion plans across India
Mumbai’s Tesla Supercharger is the first among eight planned stations in India. According to a report by the Economic Times, future locations are Lower Parel, Thane, and Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra, and Saket, Aerocity, Gurugram, and Noida in the Delhi-NCR.
This rollout of the infrastructure is one of the overall plans of Tesla to roll out a high-speed and reliable charging network in India ahead of the vehicle deliveries. The company will most probably begin selling its vehicles in the near future, most prominently the Model 3 and Model Y.

Strengthening India’s EV infrastructure
Tesla’s entry into India’s charging infrastructure is consistent with the nation’s effort to boost EV adoption. Already, the central and state governments are providing incentives and infrastructure, and Tesla’s entry with its Supercharger network is bound to boost confidence in long-distance EV travel and alleviate range anxiety among consumers.
Conclusion
Tesla’s first Supercharger station launch in Mumbai is a milestone in India’s electric mobility journey. By launching its high-speed charging technology in one of India’s most commercially active cities, Tesla is not only expanding its global reach but also paving the way for India to enter a clean transport era. With increasingly more stations going live in the coming months, Tesla’s growing footprint may have a big role to play in defining the EV market in India’s leading cities.
